With the excitement that has been generated behind Infinity Wards next big blockbuster in the form of Modern Warfare 2, Activision has decided to push back the RavenSoft FPS, Singularity until the first quarter of 2010. It appears Activision does not wish to cannibalize themselves by placing their exciting yet unknown Singularity title in the market against their golden egg which is sure to break sales records this holiday season.
According to IGN, who contact Activision writes;
“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010. We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a “must-have” title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”
This appears to be a very smart on the part of Activision as the developer RavenSoft has been quite busy pumping out the latest X-Men ORIGIN: Wolverine and still currently working on the new Wolfenstein shooter as well. We’re pretty sure this extra breathing room is much appreciated.
