E3 2010: Gears Of War 3 E3 Impression

When you hear the words ‘Gears of War’ you know, automatically, a thrill ride of epic proportions is not far behind and nothing could be furthest from the truth with Gears of War 3. This game, by far, wowed me the most at this years E3. The presentation was located inside of a pitch black mini movie theater in which you had to stand in a long line before gaining entrance.

Once inside we were quickly given an awesome demo of what to expect from Gears of War 3. From the jump, the graphics were still just as amazing as 1 and 2, not leaps ahead but just as good. What stood out was the new locals and of course the enemies. One enemy that had me in awe was called a ‘lampert’ (forgive if i get the spelling wrong) This particular creature suddenly sprouts out of the ground and resembles a tree but it’s organic and instead of growing leaves it spits out egg sacks that quickly give birth to another creature. It was exciting and nasty at the same time.

The fire fights were intense as ever and escalated to a new level when an old friend reintroduces herself in Gears of War 3 – Berserkers are back!!! And meaner then ever. As a crowd, we all went crazy and applauded with delight. Another surprise was the addition of 2 playable females in GOW3 which is a nice change of pace from the mega muscled Marcus and company. Another cool feature in GOW3 was a new multiplayer mode called Beast Mode It’s a lot like Horde but this time you can play as the bad guys which include an assortment of new creatures. You can even play as a Berserker which is way cool. Each unit has special abilities and weaknesses which means teamwork is the order of the day to ensure victory.

All in all, GOW3 is a hands down a must buy title and it’s not even close to being finished, it’s release date is April of 2011, which beckons the phrase – ‘you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

I was not an original GOW fan initially. I had to be converted by the emersive gameplay and storyline. After playing the first two installment of GOW, I’m a fan of the game and the franchise!
