Setting sells records each year only to see them topple with each new Call of Duty iteration has become a way of life at Activision. According to VGChartz, a chart reveals the ever increasing yearly sales for the shooter franchise.

After the paramount sales of Black Ops I personally considered this to be the beginning of a great run slowing coming to an end which would become more evident starting with Modern Warfare 3, boy was I wrong.

With over 1.5 million people clamouring to get their hands on the new title at midnight, over 9.3 millions copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were sold in just the first day alone. Some 54% of these copies made their way to the Xbox 360 while 42%  were headed off to the Playstation 3. The remaining 4%  were purchased for either the Wii or PC.

VGChartz explains that Modern Warfare 3 sales are up 33% over Black Ops day one sales and 55% over Modern Warfare 2. These percentages equate to sales of 9.3 million sold for Modern Warfare 3, 7 million sold for Black Ops and 6 million sold for Modern Warfare 2 in just their first day to the market.
