Bethesda and developer MachineGames have finally made Wolfenstein: The Old Blood available digitally from PSN, Xbox Live and Steam today. So far so good as we are already neck deep into the action as the cool headed B.J.Blazkowicz. Beginning our journey as we infiltrated the legendary castle Wolfenstein, at the moment our time spent is quite reminiscent of Wolfenstein: The New Order with an added touch that old-school feel of the original Castle Wolfenstein, a great combination.
If you’ve completed The New Order, you may be asking yourself where does The Old Blood line up in the story arch – the events of The Old Blood are played out before The New Order, the year is 1946 and the Nazis are on the brink of winning WWII. In an effort to turn the tide in the Allies’ favor, BJ dives into a two-part mission with Bavaria. In Part One, ‘Rudi Jager and the Den of Wolves’, where we are currently, BJ is pitted against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein.
In Part Two, ‘The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs’ BJ is in search for coordinates which lead him to the city Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.
At the asking price of $19.99 we’re currently having a blast, so hopefully our soon to be written review can echo the same sentiment. We shall see.
