The latest Splatfest for Nintendo’s successful online shooter has been announced and this time it will task players with choosing between Autobots or Decepticons. Nintendo and Hasbro have teamed up to bring the TRANSFORMERS to the wildly fun shooter. Currently players can go to the Splatfest board in Inkopolis and pick which side to represent. Players are then rewarded with a t-shirt featuring the classic logo for their chosen faction. The Splatfest is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. PT on August 28th and run until 9 p.m. on August 29th. It is open to all Wii U owners with a copy of Splatoon.

Splatfests are 24-hour long events that let players pick a preference between two choices and then compete against the opposing side online for the 24-hour long celebration. The two sides battle it out and try to rack up the most Turf Wr wins during the designated period. After the event ends, the winning side is rewarded with Super Sea Snails which are items that allow the players to upgrade their gear in game.

Up to this point the Splatfests seem to have been successful. Nintendo has kept a small trickle of free content that has come to the game that keeps pulling players back just to see what is new. The Splatfests have been a part of this and have been a great thing to help give Splatoon a sense of community. The recent software update brought a large amount of content including two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, in increase in the games level cap, and over 40 pieces of new gear. Splatoon is a Nintendo Wii U exclusive and is available on the Nintendo eShop and at retail.
