Titanfall fans will more than likely be waiting until 2017 before they can get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel. However, with the development of the new installment of series beginning back in 2014, six short months after the release of the original, has given Respawn Entertaiment ample time to refine their wares for the sequel.
Speaking with Forbes, Titanfall 2 lead writer Jesse Stern promises an engrossing experience “grounded , dirty, human and real”, just how we like our sci-fi shooter. Stern sheds light on the games multiplatform availability, warfare theme and more.
“The multi-player game will be even better than it was the first time around. This one is going to be widely available, I believe on all platforms. One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone ‘here’s who you are, here’s where you are and who’s around you.’ We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it.”
“ So we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet.”
“In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real.”
Stern is also working on tying in the narrative for Titanfall 2 with a series spin-off which is in partnership with Lionsgate TV. However, according to Stern, cost becomes a major factor when aligning your creative worlds with a TV series, “It would be very expensive,” he says. “We are trying to find a way to tell a story in the worlds we want to be in and produce in the TV model.”
Since Titanfall 2 is an EA published game we are not expecting to get a glimpse of Titanfall 2 at this years E3 expo as EA has announced that they will be dropping out of this years expo, opting to hold their own event, EA Play. This event will be held in Los Angeles, CA and London during the E3 time frame. Hopefully Respawn Entertainment will be able to offer up an impressive showcase for Titanfall 2 at EA Play.
