On December 22nd Square Enix is bringing a playable demo of NieR: Automata to the PS4. With an abandoned factory as the backdrop, the demo follows android 2B’s mission to destroy a massive enemy weapon that lies within. NieR: Automata will be available for the PS4 on March 7, 2017 in the US for $59.99 and Steam in 2017.
We recently reached to Square Enix asking whether NieR: Automata was coming to the Xbox One and the reply we received stated that they are “receiving quite a bit of Xbox One requests for the game“however, while NieR: Automata is coming to multiple platforms in the form of the PS4 and PC via Steam, an “Xbox One version of the game is not in development“. We were not told that NieR: Automata was in fact a PS4 console exclusive, but only that an Xbox One version is not being worked on. So, bearing a poor PS4 adoption of the game we could very well see NieR: Automata released for the Xbox One. But we wouldn’t encourage you to hold your breath.
As a PS4 Pro user, if you were wondering whether NieR: Automata would be optimized for Sony’s 4K gaming system, the answer is yes. The game will run at 60 frames per second, with the ambition of reaching 4K resolution as close as possible for the PS4 Pro. NieR: Automata is said to offer over 25 hours of gameplay and has already generated an impressive fan following in the US, UK and Japan.
