Xbox One X or New Exclusives: Which Would You Choose?

Recently Game Insider editor Derrick Smith has been hammered with tons of questions concerning the Xbox One X and one question that has lingered is whether Microsoft should have invested in more software exclusives instead of the powerful Xbox One X. So, instead of playing it safe, Derrick reveals his take on the question, as well as admits whether he will or will not be investing in the Xbox One X at launch.

How about this. What would you rather have yet another story about how supposedly xbox has no exclusives or some fresh articles that have not been written 100 times this week?

  • wobblypops46

Hmmm… If I were a Sony fanboy I guess I would go for the small list of mostly shitty exclusives that I mostly don’t play anyway.

It’s pretty obvious which option real gamers will choose. Just look at the pathetic sales figures of the Scumbox One and the Scumbox OneS. Microsoft’s worthless, inferior, trash machines for paupers have been left to rot in the bargain bin like the unwanted garbage they are and are getting outsold more than 2-1 worldwide by their competitor and why? Because they’re both shit products with shit games that nobody gives a damn about.

The Xbox One is a pathetic, worthless, weak, last-gen, POS excuse for a games machine with garbage excuses for games that no real gamers gives a hoot about and obviously even the Xbox fangirls agree with me on those statements because they’re the ones not buying the console or the games.

Xbox fanbums spend 24/7 of their poor existence on the internet PRETENDING to like the console Microsoft has made but the sales figures prove that when it comes time to put their money where their mouths are they refuse to spend money on Microsoft’s pathetic, non-gaming POS pauper machine because deep down inside they know it’s inferior, worthless junk for idiots and sales will always prove that.

The Xbox One X will rot at the bottom of the sales charts and end up in the bargain bin like the worthless trash it is just like Microsoft’s current versions of the Xbox are bombing in the sales charts because real gamers know they’re trash that aren’t worth buying and sales prove that!

You mean large list and of games that are almost always critically acclaimed, loved by most of their player base and more often than not considered Industry leading including by other members of the industry.

  • 7770777

lmao “large list” ,that’s a bold faced lie. Sony only has two exclusives that aren’t niche titles or Japanese anime garbage.

  • 7770777

You can always tell a Sony shill by how they overstate the importance of “exclusives”.

Less than 1% of the total games on the market are exclusives. The question should be, “Do you want to play 99% of the games on the market, with western and European developed exclusives at the best performance possible on console, or do you want to play 99% of the games on the market, a handful of niche titles, and Japanese anime games on an subpar piece of console hardware?”

  • andrewsqual

Exactly, of course that is what he meant. Seriusly WHAT “small list” is he talking about. That is Xbone he is getting mixed up with.

IT has a SMALL list of mostly shitty exclusives, Quantum Break, Recore, Halo 5 just to name but only the most overhyped and biggest of them lol.

  • andrewsqual

There is no option though. Only the most insane fanboy would try to claim that if there was no XboneX, Microsoft would have released 5 HUGE critically acclaimed exclusives this past 12 months. They wouldn’t have either way. And all the biggest exclusives the console has coming up in the next 9 months sadly will not hit this criteria either.

Well, maybe Sea of Thieves but will it matter when nobody is playing an online only game less than a week later?

  • andrewsqual

Both i.e. should have just got a standard PS4, a GDDR5 console that makes pretty good use of a 2005 1080p TV this past 4 years.
Lol why does it have to be one or the other? Why can’t you have both if Sony can do it?

  • Well, if it were me I’d rather spend that $499 on 8+ excellent new games only on Xbox One.

  • GeekGI

    Very well said!

  • JonTheGod

And which two would they be?

  • JonTheGod

I have an Xbox One S and a PS4; last gen, I had all 3 (PS3/360/Wii), so my opinion comes from an experienced non-fanboy position.

I spent most of the last gen on 360; because it came out first and most of my friends were on it. We had good times and I built up a decent 100k+ gamerscore. I slowly started investing more time on PS3 towards the last couple of years of last gen, as the system had irined out its early teething problems, programming problems, and multiplatform disparity. What drew me across to the PS3 was its ever-growing library of varied exclusives. Sony offered a greater breadth of experience to me over the 360, which has escalated in the subsequent current generation.

PS4 has most of the same games as XB1, but then adds a big thick layer of cream on top with their impressive rosta of exclusive games. I’m talking Uncharted 4, inFamous, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Nioh, Yakuza,
Hellblade, Nier Automata, No Man’s Sky, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Persona 5 (and to a lesser extent The Order 1886, and Killzone).

Looking further ahead, we can look forward to: Death Stranding, God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human, Ni No Kuni 2, Shenmue 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Days Gone, Last of Us 2… and that’s just the big ones.

Multiplatform games make up the meat of gaming, but exclusives really do set the platform apart. Xbox just isn’t doing that at the moment. What have they got so far? Halo 5, Gears 4, Forza, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break…. that’s it for the main ones. Also, most of them didn’t get great reviews (running at around 7/10)! What’s to look forward to? More Forza, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 (and Ori 2 and Cuphead if you start looking at smaller titles). Not much to carry a platform. Nosirreee.

So, no, I won’t be getting an X. I need to see investment in new experiences from Microsoft before I invest more in them.

Sony are leading the way and showing how it should be done this generation. They gave us a 4K console upgrade AND exclusive titles across a wide variety of genres.

That’s coming from an owner of both brands across both generations. Look me up, gamertag: JonTheGod on both PS and XB. I’ve got 105k gamerscore on Xbox and 52 platinums on PS, so I’ve got a strong history on each.

    My impartial viewpoint is that:

  • Mr Xrat

Xgimps making excuses for their total lack of games again. The extent to which they act like lap dogs is quite amusing.
