Dead Cells: New Brutal Update Brings a Wealth of New Additions is adding the game that is defining a sub-genre: the RogueVania. Dead Cells by Motion Twin is now available in Games in Development.

The game comes to the platform with its biggest update yet, The Brutal Update (available exclusively on GOG, 24 hours before everyone else gets it), adding new boss, new levels, new enemies, new tier system, and many other improvements and new features. If that’s not enough, you can buy the game with a 25% discount until November 20th.

For those you unfamiliar with the truly impressive Dead Cells experience, this is a whole new take on some gamer favorites – the illegitimate child of a modern Roguelite and an old-school Metroidvania. Interconnected levels and progressive unlocking of access to the island provide gamers with a real incentive to explore their surroundings. Add in a degree of evolution for the character and permanent weapon upgrades and you can see where Dead Cells borrows from the long line of MetroidVanias that precedes, while taking it in a new rogue-lite direction.

There are many important features added as well as improvements to balancing, level design, graphics UI, and general bug fixes. Notable features are included below:

First off, the old tier system (Strength/Skills/Health) has been replaced by a new system (Brutality/Tactic/Survival).
Brutality (red): includes all weapons (except shields)
Tactic (purple): includes all active skills
Survival (green): includes all shields

Some items (weapons or skills) are Dual colors, which means they can rely on two different stats, and use the highest value. You may also encounter random Colorless items: these ones will always use your best stat.

Here are the effects of these new three stats when you augment them:
Brutality (red): raise all red item damage, add +18% life
Tactic (purple): raise all purple item damage, reduce all active cooldowns
Survival (green): raise all green item damage, add +40% life
