Hardsuit Labs and Perfect World Entertainment today announced that the publisher rights for the PC game Blacklight: Retribution have reverted back to the developer Hardsuit Labs, effective on November 20, 2017. Originally released on PC in 2012, Blacklight: Retribution was among the first successful free-to-play FPS games created by a Western developer.
“Over the past five years, Blacklight: Retribution has become a leader in the free-to-play FPS genre and working with the developers to accomplish this achievement has been an honor,” said Bryan Huang, CEO of Perfect World Entertainment. “We look forward to Hardsuit Labs’ bright future and are excited to see what is next for them.”
Hardsuit Labs’ plans for Blacklight: Retribution include servers for the PC community, as well as the transfer of player accounts from Arc to Steam. “We will be working hand-in-hand with Perfect World Entertainment to ensure that the migration of services and player accounts occurs as smoothly as possible, and will post further details online as soon as we can,” said Andy Kipling, CEO of Hardsuit Labs.
Blacklight: Retribution is also currently available on PS4 as a free-to-play title.
