So after watching the Wii U in action, I'm still left with some questions. Is the Wii U truly HD compatible? Meaning can I watch blu-ray movies on it. Can I also stream Netflix in high def? Finally, can I watch a movie on the TV and then continue watching it on the remote? It would be a great feature for portability around the house.

Well, they claim it to be HD however, they also say it is still in development and that it will be "comparable" whatever that really means is up to you. (:

You cannot play blu-rays for DVDs and there is an HDMI connector so it has to be HD
