The Tokyo Game Show 2012 is underway in Japan and just recently Sony has utilized the event to announce their new PS3 models. Available in two different models, sporting a 250 GB HDD as well as a 500 GB HDD model allowing end users to store an incredible amount of digital content, the new PS3 models are smaller (20% smaller & 25% lighter than the current slim model) with a sleek streamlined design.
Prior to this announcement, many speculated that Sony would in fact enter the $199 range with the PS3 in order to combat Microsoft’s hot selling 4GB HDD model currently valued at $199, however it seems Sony is looking to continue making a profit off each console by staying above the $200 range. The newly announced 250GB PS3 will come available on September 25th for the price of $269.99 as part of a limited edition bundle featuring UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for more than $30 worth of bonus digital content for DUST 514.
The 500GB PS3 will also be a limited edition bundle available on October 30th, the same launch day of the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed III which I might add offers 4 exclusive levels only on the PS3. A Assassin’s Creed III PS3 500 GB HDD bundle sure does sounds tempting right about now.
