Developer Ninja Theory are currently hard at work tightening the screws on their next combative adventure, Hellblade coming to PS4 and PC this year. Occasionally, Ninja Theory releases some behind-the-scene intel on their upcoming project and today is one of those exciting moments. In this latest developer diaries the team sheds light on the games movement and all-important controls.
Hellblade should not be assumed as your typical action hack & slash experience, as the game is inspired by historical events, telling the story of Senua, a Celtic warrior who is left traumatized by a Viking invasion. Hellblade follows Senua’s journey into a vision of hell that is the manifestation of her own mental illness.
Hellblade is being developed by a small team of 15 people under a development model Ninja Theory call Independent AAA. This approach sees the game being created with all the creative freedom of ‘indie’ development, but with the production values of AAA blockbuster games.
