It seems Insomniac Games is not yet done implementing enhancements to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, as the latest version update 1.007 brings an additional ‘Performance RT’ mode to further increase immersion via the PlayStation 5.
With version 1.007 releasing today, Spiderman Miles Morales users on the PS5 should head on over to the ‘Graphic mode’ tab of the game and check out the ‘Performance RT’ mode, which allows the game to played at 60fps with the inclusion of ray-tracing.
While from our viewpoint this latest mode does offer the best of both worlds, well representing both the ‘Fidelity’ and ‘Performance’ modes, ‘Performance RT’ is not without its caveats. According to Insomniac and as mentioned in the mode description; “This is an alternate version of the 60 frames per second ‘Performance’ mode, adding ray-tracing by adjusting the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density.”
So, in other words don’t expect to experience an uncompromised new mode. However, from our brief testing of the new mode it looks and plays impressively well. The fluidity of swinging through the city in 60fps while capturing the vibrant reflections throughout does look and feel like the best way to experience Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales.
